LETTER: Belgrade Schools threw Brown to the wind

In regard to the situation concerning Albert Brown, I think the Belgrade School Board has done a grave injustice to a young man who made a serious mistake several years ago. Who among us has not made a mistake in our youth?

In his sentencing he was told to get a high school education. He has been in Belgrade High School for three years and according to reports has been doing very well. He has good grades and has caused no problems.

Now, when he is close to graduation, they decide to expel him, and offer him no alternative to get a high school diploma. Here was a young man on his way to becoming a productive citizen and the school board threw him to the wind.

Also, I think the Bozeman Chronicle showed very little sensitivity to this young man by its headlines Oct. 31. This only adds insult to injury and publishing his picture was cruel. I hope you all sleep well.
